Goals for 2024

I’ve been thinking about what goals I want to accomplish in 2024 for my photography. I’ve abandoned my family portrait business; it was too stressful trying to play the social media game, so I’ve decided to step back and just do photography for its own sake. I’m gonna still be doing portraits, but it’ll be for projects and themes that I’m actually interested in. I mainly want to take inspiration from a couple of photographers that I’m heavily inspired by, Zacharr Rise and Peter Coulson. They both focus on dramatic lighting and posing, which is what I’ve always wanted to achieve in my work.

Also, I started a project last summer about small towns in Texas, and the Americana vibe. I’m talking like cool small towns, and BBQ joints, carnivals, and the like. I’d also like to visit some state parks and get some nature shots to include. Maybe write some short stories about the places I go and people I meet, kind of like that Humans of New York instagram account. I’d like to eventually compile it all into a photo book of some sort. I read about a service that is basically a print-on-demand magazine, so I may go through that. It won’t be something I sell, just a personal thing to have. This would require me to be able to travel throughout the State of Texas, and I can only go so far out of town where I live on the weekends. I have a full time job, so I’m going to need to figure out what other spots in Texas I want to visit that are further out.

I’m still figuring out where I want to take this blog, so for the first few posts it will probably be me rambling about what I’ve been up to. I know that’s not good for SEO but I’m not sure if I really care. I just need some kind of outlet for this website.

Happy New Years,
